About Us

Our Mission

Eastern Psychologist was founded with a clear and heartfelt mission: to make psychology accessible, understandable, and useful for people from all walks of life. Mental health is one of the most important aspects of human well-being, yet it is often overlooked, misunderstood, or hidden under stigma. At Eastern Psychologist, we believe that every individual deserves the right to learn about mental health in a safe, simple, and reliable way.

The aim of this platform is not only to share information but also to bridge the gap between academic psychology and everyday life. We work to translate complex psychological concepts into practical insights that can help students, professionals, parents, and young people develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others.

Who We Are

Eastern Psychologist is led by Raheela Rashid, a researcher, lecturer, and writer with a strong academic background in applied psychology. With years of experience in teaching, writing, and contributing to the field of psychology, Raheela brings both passion and credibility to this project.

Raheela has served as a lecturer in the Department of Applied Psychology at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, where she taught graduate-level courses and supervised academic projects. Her research interests include adolescent mental health, developmental psychology, resilience, parenting, and the influence of social and cultural factors on psychological well-being.

Her work is deeply influenced by the belief that knowledge is most powerful when it is shared. Through Eastern Psychologist, she aspires to create a platform where psychology is not confined to classrooms or journals but becomes a resource for personal growth, academic learning, and community awareness.

Our Vision

We envision Eastern Psychologist as more than just a website—it is a community and a learning hub. The goal is to:

  • Provide research-informed articles on psychology, mental health, and human behavior.
  • Support students and early-career professionals with academic resources and insights.
  • Encourage open conversations about mental well-being in societies where it is often considered a taboo subject.
  • Offer easy-to-read, practical guides for individuals seeking self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier coping strategies.

Why Eastern Psychologist?

There are many websites and blogs that write about mental health. However, Eastern Psychologist is unique in its commitment to accuracy, cultural relevance, and compassion. We do not believe in quick fixes or unverified claims. Instead, we build our content on:

  • Evidence-based psychology – drawing from peer-reviewed research and scientific literature.
  • Cultural sensitivity – acknowledging that mental health and well-being look different in different societies, especially in South Asian contexts.
  • Accessibility – making sure that even readers with little or no psychology background can benefit from our work.

This careful balance of academic knowledge and simple communication makes Eastern Psychologist a trusted source for both learners and general readers.

Our Publications

Our work is not limited to online articles. Raheela Rashid has also contributed to scholarly publications that reflect her research expertise:

  • Rashid, R. (2024). Predicting Adolescent Anxiety with Childhood Attachment Disruptions: A Systematic Review. Early Childhood Care and Education Journal (AIOU). Read Article
  • Additional research work, collaborations, and publications can be explored on ResearchGate.

By highlighting peer-reviewed publications alongside freely accessible content, we ensure that our work remains academically credible and publicly valuable.

Our Approach to Mental Health Content

It is important to note that Eastern Psychologist is not a substitute for professional therapy, diagnosis, or treatment. While our articles and resources are written with scientific accuracy, they are intended for educational and informational purposes only.

We emphasize:

  • Awareness, not diagnosis – our content is for understanding, not labeling.
  • Prevention and coping strategies – promoting resilience, stress management, and healthy emotional habits.
  • Encouragement to seek help – reminding readers that professional psychologists, therapists, or counselors are essential when dealing with mental health concerns.

Building Trust With Our Readers

Transparency is central to our platform. We value the trust that readers place in us, and we take it seriously. That is why we openly share our sources, cite research where possible, and avoid making exaggerated or misleading claims.

Our readers can expect:

  • Clear references to psychological theories and studies.
  • Practical examples to illustrate key concepts.
  • Honest discussions about mental health challenges, without sugar-coating or stigma.

We also encourage feedback from our readers. If you have suggestions, questions, or corrections, you are always welcome to reach out.

Eastern Psychologist is continuously evolving. In the future, we plan to expand into areas such as:

  • Workshops and webinars for students and professionals.
  • Collaborative projects with researchers and practitioners in psychology.
  • Resources in multiple languages to make mental health education accessible beyond English-speaking audiences.
